How to Uninstall a Program in Windows Vista & Windows 7:
Why do we need to uninstall programs or software, anyway? Programs that you no longer use, or programs that are corrupted need to be uninstalled because they are taking up space and can cause your computer to work slowly. The uninstall process for Windows Vista and Windows 7 is a little different than with Windows XP. In earlier versions of Windows, you can uninstall a program using Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel. To uninstall a program in Windows Vista and 7 you must go to Control Panel, then click “Uninstall a program” under Programs. If you are using Classic view or Small icons, look for Programs and Features.
When you click on Uninstall a program, it will show the list of all installed programs on your computer. Choose the program that you would like t0 uninstall, and then click “Uninstall.”
Another method of uninstalling a program is by using its built-in uninstall feature. Almost all programs have it and it can be found under the program’s folder. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to completely remove the program.
These are the two common methods of uninstalling a program on Windows Vista and Windows 7. However, there are some programs which cannot be uninstalled using its built-in uninstall feature, or even using Programs and Features uninstall command. One good example is Norton Antivirus. In such programs, we need to download third party software to completely uninstall it. Although Norton has its own removal software, for those who do not, there are other third party uninstaller programs on the market that can be downloaded.
